Why Comprehensive Diagnostics Matters
We recommend new patients start with a comprehensive exam so we can evaluate your oral health and come up with a customized treatment plan for you. Once you are established as a patient you will have periodic exams with our dentist team, depending on your dental needs.
Science shows a strong link between dental disease and inflammatory conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, and Alzheimer’s. It’s clearer than ever that a healthy mouth supports whole body wellness.
A healthy mouth starts with a diagnostic approach to dental care. We prioritize comprehensive evaluation to identify and address potential issues before they escalate, empowering you to maintain optimal oral and overall well-being.

Your Comprehensive Diagnostic and Exam
We take a thorough approach to your dental care by thoroughly evaluating your overall health history, vital signs, and any underlying medical conditions. This comprehensive understanding allows us to develop personalized treatment plans that consider your unique needs and optimize your overall well-being.
Early detection is crucial in the successful treatment of oral cancer. During your comprehensive exam, we perform a thorough visual and tactile examination, using advanced technology like the VELscope to identify any abnormalities or precancerous lesions, enabling us to provide timely intervention and treatment if necessary.
Gum disease is a common yet overlooked condition with major health implications. Most Americans have some form of it, but many don’t address it until it’s too late. However, if caught early, it can be reversed and controlled. We use perioscopy to get a magnified view of your gumline and roots. This enables more effective plaque and tartar removal by seeing the results in real-time. We evaluate your oral microbiome, genetic and lifestyle factors to come up with a customized treatment plan for your gum health and teach you how to maintain your oral health at home. This is not your “brush and floss more” type of dental office.
The earlier we can detect cavities, the easier and less invasive the treatment will be for you. Our comprehensive exam includes a thorough assessment of your risk for caries, taking into account factors such as diet, oral hygiene habits, and the presence of harmful bacteria. We use the Carifree Testing meter to detect the amount of cavity bacteria in the mouth. This allows us to catch and treat cavities earlier, making the process simpler and less invasive for you. Smaller cavities can be treated with our remineralization protocol.
Improper bite alignment can lead to a variety of issues, including jaw pain, headaches, and excessive wear on your teeth. During your exam, we carefully evaluate your occlusion (bite) using advanced diagnostic tools like Itero scan technology and extraoral posture photos. This allows us to identify and address any imbalances or disorders, promoting your ultimate function and comfort.
Part of your comprehensive exam includes an assessment of your airway and sleep. If we see anything that needs extra attention, we partner with Dr. Taylor at O2Dontics with the sole purpose of providing whole-health focused care. O2Dontics offers a full scope of treatment options and a network of exceptional specialists that are here to help you achieve proper breathing while you sleep, for improved health, energy levels, and quality of life.

Finding Dr. Taylor and her team was was such a godsend! I was referred by a homeopathic doctor in my town who said it would be worth my while to make the 1 1/2 hr drive…oh boy was she right! That was over seven years ago and I’m still making the drive because I have found no other office that compares. The care they offer is comprehensive and cutting edge. They helped me make informed choices that not only saved my teeth, but have improved my overall health. I HIGHLY recommend them!
